Watermelon Glow Serum

I’ve been wanting to try my hand at making a serum inspired by a Glow Recipe product for awhile, so when I saw the Fision GlowPlex active on Lotioncrafter’s site, I decided to go for it.

Fision GlowPlex is a skin care active specifically designed to create glowing skin. It harnesses the power (and popularity) of niacinamide and natural peptide technology to “...enhanced skin radiance, minimizing appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation, blurring of skin imperfections, and supporting even, homogenous skin tone over time.” It even goes so far as to claim that it can achieve visible results in as little as 7 days! Count me in!

I knew I HAD to add something “watermelon-y”, so I added a bit of a watermelon glycerite extract that I made. Besides being hydrating, watermelon contains vitamins A, B, and C. Which means it can slow the signs of aging. Watermelon is also anti-inflammatory and contains enzymes that can help with the exfoliation of dead skin cells, giving you a fresher, brighter appearance.

I also added a bit of hyaluronic acid for added moisture; olive squalane - just because I really love it; and a fair bit of chamomile hydrosol to really help soothe the skin. Chamomile also helps to brighten skin which I thought would be wonderful in this application.

Initially, I was going to color this product with some water soluble dye, but then I remembered I bought some pure Sakura flower powder from Amazon in the spring of the year. So I used that instead, and I’m super happy with the results! It’s not only the perfect, soft pink color, it’s anti-aging, soothing to the skin, anti-inflammatory, and can help even skin tone. It’s also natural and who doesn’t love that?

The end result is a gorgeous, light, silky-feeling serum that sinks right in and softens your skin! And did I mention it’s SO EASY to make?
