I can’t say, for sure, what triggered it, but I had a “teenaged memory unlocked” moment a couple of weeks ago of a beautiful, pink shaving gel called Skintimate Shave Gel for Women. I remember that it smelled lovely and did a wonderful job of prepping the skin for shaving, and leaving it soft afterward. I became obsessed with trying to duplicate it. Now, I couldn’t figure out what turned the gel to a creamy foam once dispensed from the can, but I definitely got the color and dense, lovely feel of it down pat. And as for the scent, well you can choose that for yourself.
I used Sakura powder in this formula. And while it does have some skin-loving benefits ( it’s anti-inflammatory and aids in hydration of the skin), it’s just not in contact with skin long enough to have any lasting effect beyond color. But rest assured, I’m working on a few recipes that will put Sakura powder, and its skin benefits, to good use. Stay tuned for future projects!

Sakura Shave Gel
Phase A:
56.25% / 112.50g Distilled Water
20% / 40g Aloe Juice
0.5% / 1g Sakura Powder
0.2% / 0.4g Allantoin
0.1% / 0.2g Hyaluronic Acid
15% / 30g Glycerin
Phase B:
2% / 4g Sepimax Zen
Phase C:
0.2% / 0.4g Fragrance Oil
1.25% / 2.5g Ultra Mild Surfactant
4% / 8g Distilled Water
0.5% / 1g Liquid Germall Plus

Steps:
- Combine all ingredients in Phase A and stir well to incorporate.
- Sprinkle Phase B onto the top of Phase A ingredients and leave, covered for a few hours, or overnight.
- If you don’t want to wait overnight, you can incorporate the Sepimax Zen into the Phase A ingredients using an immersion (stick) blender, until well combined.
- In a separate vessel, mix Phase C ingredients together until well combined and add to well mixed, GELLED, Phase A/B. Stir well to incorporate. Do NOT use the stick blender for fear of kicking up too many bubbles.
- Transfer to a clean, sterilized airless pump bottle.
- Enjoy!
