I REALLY LOVE a good toner! There’s just something about how cooling and refreshing they feel on the skin after a wash that makes me so happy! This one has the added benefit of being gentle, yet very effective at lifting off old, dead skin. It leaves me with noticeably softer, brighter skin after just a couple of days, and who doesn’t love that?
It’s also SO SIMPLE to make and with only 5-6 ingredients, you can add them straight to the bottle you’ll use to dispense the product; shake it up; wait a few hours and you’re ready to go!
I used the Fruit Acid Complex I bought from Lotioncrafter and I find it to be a lovely active filled with 5 different botanical extracts containing naturally occurring AHAs. It’s gentle, yet extremely effective at resurfacing my skin and leaving it soft as a baby’s bottom.
I also added a bit of Fision Hydrate that I also bought from Lotioncrafter to try. It is NOT necessary in this formulation - you can simply add vegetable glycerin, propanediol, or any other humectant you love in place of it - but I DO find it a lovely addition.
You’ll also notice that I added equal parts of a centella asiatica hydrosol I made, but you can use any hydrosol you like, or use all water in place of it.
The Polyquaternium-10 I use in this recipe is there mostly to adjust the viscosity from very drippy/watery, to something with a bit of heft behind it so it stays put and is less prone to drip into delicate eyes.

44.65g / 44.65% Centella Hydrosol
0.5g / 0.5% Liquid Germall Plus
0.2g / 0.2% Polyquaternium-10
5g / 5% Fruit Acid Complex
5g / 5% Fision Hydrate

Instructions:
- Carefully pour each ingredient into a clean, sanitized bottle.
- Place a lid on the bottle, and tighten it.
- Shake the bottle to thoroughly mix the contents. Shake periodically over the next few hours until all of the Polyquaternium-10 is dissolved.
- Enjoy!
*The pH of this toner AS MADE ABOVE falls at 4, which is perfect for this kind of formulation.
