Hey, Beautiful! So today we're making some blueberry glycerite to use in a couple of future projects. I must confess, I'm no glycerite expert, but I found someone online who is. Her name is LisaLise, and her website is Lisalise.com. She is the master of all things "glycerite", so whenever I want to try a new one, I go to her site first.
Why did I want to use blueberry? Well, if you came here from the video, you'll already know many of the great skincare benefits. But just to name a few, they are loaded with antioxidants, specifically vitamin A and retinoids, so it's a great antiaging ingredient. It also lightens and brightens the skin which will help account for a glowing complexion, and it's anti-inflammatory.
OK, yes I know, you're really just here for the formula, so let me get to it! :-D
Blueberry Glycerite (from LisaLise.com)
49.5% Fresh, organic blueberries
50% Glycerin
0.5% Preservative (I used Liquid Germall Plus, so my numbers are a little different form LisaLise's)
Steps:
- Only choose the most pristine and perfect blueberries for this glycerite. We don't want any insuing rot to compromise or challenge the preservative.
- Thoroughly clean the blueberries, pat dry, and slice in half.
- Place blueberries in a clean and sterilized jar.
- Pour in the correct amount of glycerin and preservative.
- Muddle the fruit a little with a clean and sterilized utensil.
- Place the equally cleaned and sterilized lid onto the jar and secure tightly.
- Place in a dark corner of the room and shake once daily for about a week.
- After a week, strain your glycerite. Do not allow any fruit particles or seeds to remain in the glycerite.
- Use within 6 months.
